Our Team
Jérémie Wookey, Producer
Jérémie is the co-founder and Producer at Wookey Films. He is the artistic driving force of the company, acting as a contributing Writer / Director on pretty much all of Wookey Films' active production projects. As such, Jérémie leads his creative teams through all phases of the process from shoot scripting to editing.
Following the success of their first indie-documentary, Mémére Métisse which opened Toronto's 2008 ImagineNATIVE Film Festival and was broadcast on CBC, Radio-Canada and APTN, he and his sister Janelle both started their careers at Radio-Canada in Winnipeg working in news and special series. In 2013, he had the opportunity to broaden his skillset when he spent 2 months in Kanawake, Québec, working as a digital content creator for Tracey Deer's Mohawk Girls. There, he connected with other amazing Indigenous creatives who fueled and inspired him to take his career to the next step. Later that year, he co-founded Wookey Films with Janelle.
In 2014, their film Treading Water won Best Documentary at the ImagineNATIVE Film Festival in Toronto. That same year, Jérémie earned Wookey Films the Manitoba LGBT Chamber of Commerce New Business of the Year Award. In 2016, Jérémie was nominated for two Gemini awards, including for Best Arts & Culture Documentary or Series for Wookey Films' Les boys du ballet. In 2018, he was again nominated for Best Editing in a Magazine Series for Season 1 of Comment devenir adulte (TV5 / Unis).
When Jer's not plugged in at his desk or running a story meeting, you'll likely find him at home hosting amazing gatherings with friends and family with his husband, Alex.
Janelle Wookey, Producer

With a keen eye for great stories and a mind for designing workflows that keep the Wookey ship on course, Janelle makes sure that all crew members always have what they need to perform at their highest potential.
Following the success of their first indie-documentary, Mémére Métisse which opened Toronto's 2008 ImagineNATIVE Film Festival and was broadcast on CBC, Radio-Canada and APTN, she and her brother Jeremie started their careers at Radio-Canada in Winnipeg working in news and special series. Working both behind and in front of the camera, Janelle had the opportunity to hone her skills alongside her brother / co-worker Jérémie. In 2013, they started Wookey Films.
In 2014, their film Treading Water won Best Documentary at the ImagineNATIVE Film Festival in Toronto. In 2016, Janelle was nominated for three Prix Gémeaux awards, including for Best Arts & Culture Documentary or Series for Wookey Films' Les boys du ballet. As an artistic figure of the franco-métis community, Janelle has participated in several cultural events and panels. In 2017, she was selected alongside Alanis Obomsawin and Colm Feore to sit on the 9 person committee tasked with selecting candidates for the new board and CEO of CBC / Radio-Canada. As an on-air personality, she covered the Vancouver 2010 Winter Olympics for APTN and co-hosted its nationally-broadcast Indigenous Day Live celebrations both in 2017 and 2018.
When she's not at work, Janelle can be found at home juggling and cuddling her three little girls: Zuzu and twin baby sisters Annie and Sophie with her husband, Casey.
Denise Darling,
Creative Production Manager
Denise Darling is the Creative Production Manager at Wookey Films. Denise's day to day includes overseeing creative work on both development and production projects, managing details large and small on a wide-ranging project slate. In her role, she also oversees post-production and is the glue that holds directors, writers, producers and editors together from the day a project is born until its final delivery to the broadcaster.
Her natural curiosity and deep sense of empathy make Denise a true storyteller. She has a passion (and a real knack) for taking real life stories and distilling them into impactful content that connects with its intended audience. Her appreciation and innate understanding of audiences come from over ten years of experience working at some of Manitoba's top advertising agencies. After receiving a communications diploma in 2006 from Red River College's Creative Communications program, she worked as an in-house video producer, creating award-winning content for major agricultural, educational and governmental clients.
On evenings and weekends, Denise takes her story-telling and team management talents home to her little girls Rosie and Alice and husband, Doug. Denise is also an emerging amateur beadwork artist, making incredible beaded moccasins and mukluks for anyone who asks!
Stephanie Clement,
Controller/Production Manager
Stephanie is the Controller / Production Manager at Wookey Films. Aside from managing the day to day financials on active productions, she oversees a huge amount of executive work from fulfilling reporting requirements to various funders to managing project financing and tax credit applications.
Steph also plays a key navigational role maintaining a clear and accurate picture of the company's position on a regular basis, allowing Producers to make educated decisions about development strategy and investments. Her razor-sharp mind and her penchant for efficiency make her a true rock star at Wookey Films.
Stephanie attended Dalhousie University in Halifax and received a Bachelor of Commerce degree in 2016. After graduation, she returned to Winnipeg where she worked first as an Accountant and then as an Assistant Controller at an advertising firm. She is currently poised to complete the work experience required to receive her CPA designation in April 2020.
Steph has traveled to 18 countries and despite what you might think when you think 'accountant', she enjoys a drop-in hip-hop class every once in a while, which was a deal-sealer at the time of her hiring.
Danelle Granger, Assistant Editor
Danelle Granger is an Assistant Editor at Wookey Films. She is the media asset command centre, tracking and organizing footage that comes in from productions in Winnipeg, Montreal and Toronto. Danelle also contributes to assembling visual sequences for the company's nationally-broadcast series and occasionally, busts out of the edit suite to capture some footage herself, working the camera for digital productions and development projects.
Danelle first came to Wookey Films as an intern, studying Creative Communications at Red River College. Her amazing attitude and top-notch skillset lead to contract work and eventual full-time employment with the company. A proud Métis woman, she is a motivator to all and an ardent champion of the Wookey Films culture.
Danelle's evenings and weekends are spent with friends, drinking red wine and cuddling with her constant feline companion, Sir Fluff.
